In summary, our Commissioning Strategic Plan will be:

  • A five year forward-Strategy
  • Developed with the population and partners to prioritise long term goals for improving health and tackling inequalities
  • An ‘end-to-end’ Strategy – needs assessment, service delivery, health outcomes
  • Underpinned by long-term financial, organisation development and annual operating plans

Our 5-year Strategy

Health outcomes priorities agreed at Board meeting of July 16th 2008:

  • Health inequalities and life expectancy
  • Alcohol
  • Mental health and well being
  • Children
  • Cardio vascular disease

Our Commissioning Assurance Review

Over the last few weeks, we have been asking a number of people to say how they think we measure up against the national commissioning competencies.

On 23 July, we took the first set of results to a meeting with our Reference Group, looking at what had been said and thinking about what we need to do next.  We will publish here, some summary information about the workshop very shortly.  Very shortly after that, we will put the finished report here for people to look at.

In summary, our Assurance Review requires us to:

  • Progress toward the development of an outcomes focused Commissioning Strategic Plan
  • Undergo a ‘360’ assessment by partners on the PCT
  • Self assess against 11 nationally defined commissioning competencies
  • Review Board governance
  • Submit documentary evidence to support the overall assessment
